Introducing Cloud Riders
First, a quick introduction: I’m Simone Brunozzi, Technology Evangelist for Amazon Web Services, focused on the Bay Area (California), and based in San Francisco. (my Blog, my Twitter). By the way, Simone is a “guy” name in Italy (where I come from), and it’s pronounced something like “see-moh-neeh”. You can call me “simon”, if that’s easier for you
This website is about a cool initiative, called Cloud Riders.
This picture below summarizes it very well:
It’s a Hackathon, on Cloud Computing things, done on the road (RVs, or other vehicles).
It’s aimed at developers, startuppers and the like, and it’s meant to be a fun way to code, travel, meet people and possibly win some cool prizes.
We would like to launch the first “event” of this kind in conjunction with AWS Re: Invent, the first global conference on Amazon Web Services, held in Las Vegas on November 27th-29th.
Given that many startups are based in San Francisco, we plan to start Cloud Riders 1.0 in San Francisco, and travel to Las Vegas, during the course of the two days preceding the conference. Each team of 3-4 people will be assigned to an RV, and drive and code for two days. The coding part will be, as you can guess, focused on Amazon Web Services.
We also want to mention/thank similar initiatives (either on the road, or in a big room), such as The Startup Bus, Geeks on a plane and HackNow.
More details will follow… But for now, I’d like to know what you think about the idea.
Comment below, or email me: simone at Amazon.com.
Thanks!
Notes:
Read more about Hackathons: on Wikipedia, or on Brad Feld’s blog.
If you are interested in this initiative, and want to participate… Hold on! You’ll be able to express your interest very soon, but not now
